Drum with Criss Cross Braid One of the master basket makers of her tribe, Clara Neptune Keezer (Passamaquoddy) is best known for fruit and vegetable baskets made of brilliantly dyed brown ash splits and sweetgrass. Born on the Pleasant Point Passamaquoddy Reservation in Maine, Keezer made her first baskets at age eight. Her parents, grandparents and great grandparents were talented craftspeople specializing in brown ash work baskets and fancy baskets. Keezer continues the family tradition by teaching her son Rocky Keezer. |
