Sonwai - which means beautiful - is the working name for Verma Nequatewa (Hopi). This superb jeweler learned her craft as an apprentice to her uncle Charles Loloma, with whom she worked for twenty-three years. Using only the finest quality stones, including but not limited to coral, turquoise, lapis lazuli, opal, charolite, ironwood and sugilite, Nequatewa creates a variety of inlay and metal working techniques.
